Westhampton Beach House
Located on a strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean and Moriches Bay, this weekend retreat was designed to accommodate three generations of an active family. The plan balances privacy and unity, the pleasures of soothing interior space and glorious, light-and-water-filled vistas.
Within, an open living space is the house's focal point, with bedrooms and baths in an adjacent, two-story volume. Without, the house is wrapped in spaces representing different degrees of exposure: an exterior 'room,' with an extended roof that blocks the sun, overlooks the ocean; a wood screening wall at once frames views and creates privacy. |
