Noah's Park at The Skirball Cultural Center
ERW Design was invited to submit a proposal to The Skirball Cultural Center for 'Noah's Park', a new children's gallery. In more sixty pages of images and text, we explored the multiple roles this story has played in our culture, and the complexity of interpretation associated with Noah's Ark. We proposed a narrative of diverse and interpretive experiences.
The project team included specialty fabricators, and interactive and graphic exhibition designers. Proposed features included a ramped entrance to the exhibit hall, displays built to the cubit dimensions of Noah's Ark, an outdoor water environment that would 'flood' intermittently, and plant materials cited in the Bible. Interactive displays were developed as opportunities for children and families to retell, in their own words, an ancient and resonant tale. |
